Quattro stelle al 2013

Following established tradition, the star rating has been assigned to the most recent harvest, the 2013 harvest. Fabio Marchi, the enologist, presided over the tasting committee, made up of experts in the wine sector. The committee awarded four stars out of a maximum of five, an excellent result given the sometimes complex weather conditions of the vintage, and a confirmation of the professionalism of the producers.

The "zero impact" project was set in motion in order to ensure the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the promotion of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. The first fruits of this project will be announced to wine lovers with a certification on every bottle declaring "zero impact" on the territory resulting from the production of the DOCG Vino Nobile. The project aims to reduce or offset CO2 emissions deriving from the three phases of DOCG Vino Nobile production (agriculture, company and transport) to net zero.

The initiative, presented during the last day of the twentieth edition of the Anteprima (Preview), is the result of a partnership between the local municipal authorities, the Consorzio del Vino Nobile and the Italian section of the International Solar Energy Society (the Italian section of the ISES is Italy's principal technical and scientific association for the promotion of the use of renewable energy sources). The results are scrutinised by scientists at the G. Marconi University in Rome in order to guarantee the validity of the project. Other important institutions are in the process of adhering to the initiative, including the Region of Tuscany, the Province of Siena and the Siena Chamber of Commerce.
