Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano
Le Bertille
The farm azienda Agricola "I Poderi di Poggioalgalloallo" in Montepulciano is composed of the Bertille and Casella estates and covers around 20 hectares. The soil composition is mainly tufa-clay with a variety of exposures. 8 hectares of vineyard have already been planted, with a further 7 hectares planned in the coming years. The estates includes a centuries-old olive grove and a beautiful lake, an oasis for migrating herons. The grape varietes cultivated, traditional to the Montepulciano area, are the Prugnolo Gentile, il Mammolo, il Ciliegiolo, il Colorino and il Canaiolo. Accurate management of the vineyards, summer pruning, bunch thinning and selective harvesting allow for a limited but high quality production.
