Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano

Ambassador

For several years the Consorzio del Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has worked with internationally recognised personalities who undertake an important role in promoting the Montepulciano area. Each “ambassador” has the task of promoting the rich culture of Vino Nobile and its surrounding area in Italy and abroad.

Enrique Mazzola, artistic director of Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte in Montepulciano from 1999 to 2003 has profound knowledge of the connection in this area between music and wine production, and was the first “Ambassador of Vino Nobile” in the world. It is no coincidence that the Maestro chose to represent Montepulciano, where he has lived for some years.

Enrique Mazzola was born in Spain into a family of musicians and studied violin and piano before receiving his diploma in orchestra direction with Daniele Gatti and in composition with Azio Corghi. Mazzola is well-known to the international public and critics as one of the most sophisticated and dynamic performers of his generation. While remaining interested in modern music, he pays close attention to the late Baroque repertoire and specializes in the Classical and early Baroque periods. He is very active in both symphony and opera and has been invited by leading orchestras (including the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia…) and European theatres (Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, La Monnaie di Bruxelles, Stuttgart Staatstheater, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino…).
