In March the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano sets off on its annual international tour, starting with a week in the USA: seven days of events and tastings in cities throughout the country, presenting the latest vintages to come onto the market (the 2011 Nobile and the 2010 Riserva) to experts, opinion leaders and wine professionals.
The tour begins with the New York Sommelier Association seminar in New York City on the first week of March, curated by Marco Sabellico, editor of the celebrated Gambero Rosso wine guide. On 6 March, the Big Apple hosts an afternoon of tastings and a technical seminar, also curated by Marco Sabellico, in the evocative setting of the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street). This runs concurrently with the first day of the B2B Tourist Operators presentation, at the head offices of the New York Chamber of Commerce (730 Fifth Avenue, Suite 502, 5th floor) on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 March.
The next stop on the US tour is Philadelphia, for a "Sistema Montepulciano" presentation scheduled for Monday 10 March, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., followed by tastings of the latest vintages. The event will be held at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts - Historic Landmark Building (128 N. Broad Street).
The Vino Nobile tour then moves on to Salt Lake City and Seattle for more promotional events with tourist operators, wine professionals and local institutions, with the aim of setting up mutually beneficial new partnerships.
